L.A. Vacay

To make things short Jen and I will be heading on an unexpected vacation. Well, a vacation for her and work/vacation for me. Last Friday my bosses asked if I would be willing to go to our LA office for a few days to get up to speed on one of our clients so I could fill in while some people are on vacations for the next few weeks. They allowed me to turn it down if my personal life didn't allow for the trip (translation: I have a lot of kids). I asked if I could turn it into a work vacation with my wife and it was okayed. We only have to pay for Jen's ticket, her food, and maybe a night in the hotel. We have always wanted to go out west for a vacation and could not pass up the opportunity to get such a vacation at a discount price. We will travel on Monday, I will work normal hours Tues-Thurs, Friday and Saturday will be vacation, and Sunday we will travel home. Jen will be able to do what she wants during the week if she is willing to brave the SoCal traffic.

Hopefully we will have plenty of time to do some good sightseeing during the evenings and on Friday and Saturday. We are staying on the south side of LA at the Wyndham Hotel in Orange County which is only minutes from our office and only a few miles from the beach.

Jen and I have never been to the Pacific Ocean so this will be a new experience for us. She has also never flown on a passenger jet. My last time was when I went to England 11 years ago. We both love traveling so hopefully this will be a great adventure.

If you have been to SoCal, any suggestions for sightseeing?

I went to the SF area for work a couple months ago and it was awesome. CA is a different world! I don't have any suggestions for you... just realize that it takes forever to get anywhere in that traffic - and there can be traffic jams on Sunday afternoons too.

Have fun! I'm sure you'll have a great time.
